For now, they are together, though Belle does not know about Rumple being the dark one again.
| PersonalityBelle is a very intelligent young woman who loves to read books, mostly adventures and romances, dreaming of one day being a hero herself. She's been a help for the heroes of Storybrooke more than once, given her extensive knowledge in books, and because of her relationship with Rumple.
However, despite this intelligence, Belle is incredibly trusting, and can be very gullible, especially when it comes to someone she really wants to trust, such as Rumple, or even Hook. Belle believes the stories from others, partially because she is still very naive. For most of her life she was in a castle or locked up in another castle, so she really didn't get much experience outside of the castles. Most of her knowledge comes from the stories she has read, which leads to a very narrow and untrue view of how the world works, though her life in Storybrooke is teaching her this.
Belle can be a little snooty to those around her, because she knows that she is smart. This is partly due to the fact that her involvement is highly underrated by the heroes, and not often utilized, even though she wants to be a hero herself. She still wants to save everyone, but there are times that she believes herself superior to those around her, though she is working on that.
Seeing the best in the Dark One was no easy task. Most women would be scared of him, but Belle was confident, and was able to see beyond the scary exterior, to see a man inside him, a good man, a man she wants him to be, and no believes that he is. Belle can see the good in just about everyone who crosses their paths, and will give everyone a chance if they let her, which might lead to getting burned, but Belle would think it a necessary sacrifice for even just one person to turn to their side, to redeem just one person... she'd be willing to be burned many times over trying to help others.
| HistoryWhen Belle was young, she was promised to a young man named Gaston. Gaston wasn't a jerk, but he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, nor the most humble. Belle liked Gaston enough, but she never wanted to marry him. She confided this to her mother, and her mother told her father, and the decision was made that if she didn't find someone else suitable for her, when she turned thirty, she would marry Gaston.
Well, when she was around thirty, just after it, her mother died, and the wedding was postponed. Belle tried to find out what happened, restore her memory of what happened to her mother, but she ended up hurting a girl named Anna and heard of a powerful sorcerer. The kingdom was facing problems with the ogres, they were facing complete defeat and death. So, Belle convinced her father to summon the wizard Rumplestiltskin.
Rumple did indeed help their kingdom, as long as Belle agreed to join him in his castle forever as his maid. She agreed, despite the protesting from Gaston and her father. At first she was scared, though she tried not to let it show. Her room was the dungeon and she cried, wanting to see her family again. However, not long after her service to Rumple began, a man invaded the castle and Rumple caught him. While Rumple was gone, Belle freed the man from Rumple's torture, and after Rumple found out, he brought her to find the man. However, after some convincing, Rumple 'missed' the man, sparing his life.
Time went on, from pulling down curtains, chipping cups and learning about Rumple's past, Belle fell in love with her captor. Eventually, he let her go, and she could return home, whatever she wanted. But she loved him, even though she knew something evil had taken root in him. After meeting a nice lady on the road, she learned that a kiss of true love could break the curse he was under. So she returned, and kissed him. However, he got scared, yelled, locked her up, then let her go. So she left, thinking that it was a lost cause.
Then she went on a few adventures, ending up in a dwarf tavern, teaming up with Mulan to defeat a monster who turned out to be a prince, before being captured by that same lady who told her about the kiss, the Evil Queen Regina.
After the curse hit, Belle was trapped in an asylum not knowing who she was, until a man named Jefferson freed her, and told her to find Mr. Gold. So that's what she did. After first she didn't remember, but finally, she did after the curse broke.
She would be shot over the town line and lose her memory, regain cursed memories as Lacey, a barfly, end up dating Mr. Gold without knowing who he really was to her, and eventually have her memory restore with a potion in the cup she chipped so long ago. She would be left behind when the heroes and Rumple went to Neverland, and she tried hard to get Rumple back from the dead after he defeated Pan. However, the price was Rumple's son, Baelfire, while both were tricked by the Wicked Witch to get him back as a trade, and the witch took Rumple's dagger and thus, him, prisoner.
After defeating the Wicked Witch, Belle was given the dagger, and she gave it to Rumple, so he wouldn't have to be controlled anymore, but he gave it back, or at least she thought he did. There he proposed to her, and she agreed. They were married and happy, but Belle found out that Rumple was lying to her, that the dagger wasn't real, and she found it. Angry at him, she used the real dagger to banish him.
Time passed, and Rumple came back, nearly died, and fell into a coma when the Dark One was taken out of him. Belle went to Camelot, with a rose connected to his life, if the rose died he was gone too. After returning, she did not leave Rumple's side often, until he disappeared when he awoke, when Emma stole him away.
Then, Rumple appeared in the library, having escaped from Emma. He tried to convince her to leave, but Belle refused, and was chased by Merida, who turned into a bear, but Rumple came and saved her. After Rumple fought Hook, Belle told Rumple that she needed time to think, to protect herself from possibly getting into a bad relationship again. However, after he sent her off to explore the world like she always wanted to, Henry called to explain the relationship, and she realized that Rumple had lied to her, because he was about to die. A selfless thing. So, she went to him, and they began their relationship anew, not knowing he was already hiding something from her.
Now, the heroes left her behind again, and went to the Underworld, but just the next moment they were back, and they weren't alone...
